Piolon-30

Piolon-30 from Knoll is a higher-strength pioglitazone tablet used in adults with type 2 diabetes. Doctors usually move to this dose when a lower dose is not enough to keep blood sugar in the target range.

• Type 2 diabetes mellitus
• Helps lower raised blood sugar
• Used along with other antidiabetic medicines or insulin

Pioglitazone is a thiazolidinedione. It helps muscle, fat and liver cells respond better to insulin so the body uses circulating glucose more effectively, leading to better long-term sugar control.

Swallow the tablet whole with water as prescribed by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food, ideally at the same time daily.

• Weight gain
• Fluid retention and ankle swelling
• Headache
• Sinus infection
• Low blood sugar when used with other diabetes drugs

Not suitable in heart failure, active liver disease or a history of bladder cancer. Tell your doctor about pregnancy plans, breastfeeding, or fracture history. Periodic liver and sugar tests are advised.

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep the strip closed and out of reach of children.
