Piolon 15

Piolon 15 from Knoll is a tablet containing pioglitazone, an oral medicine used in type 2 diabetes. It is often added when blood sugar is not well controlled with diet, exercise and other tablets alone.

Pioglitazone belongs to a group called thiazolidinediones. It makes the body's muscle, fat and liver cells more sensitive to insulin, so glucose moves out of the blood more easily and blood sugar levels improve.

Swallow the tablet with water as prescribed by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food, usually at the same time each day.

• Low blood sugar when combined with other diabetes medicines

Tell your doctor about any heart failure, liver disease, bladder problems, or fractures. Inform if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Regular check-ups for liver tests and blood sugar are important.
