Metform SR 1000

Metform SR 1000 from Knoll is a sustained-release Metformin tablet. The SR design releases the medicine slowly through the day and is usually gentler on the stomach than the regular form.

• Type 2 diabetes in adults
• To improve sugar control along with diet and exercise
• Often used in PCOS and pre-diabetes as advised

Metformin is a biguanide that lowers the amount of sugar the liver makes and helps the body's cells use insulin better. It does not push the pancreas to release more insulin, so the risk of low sugar on its own is low.

Take as prescribed by your doctor, swallowed whole with water along with or just after a meal, usually the evening meal. Do not crush or chew the tablet.

• Nausea, loose motions or stomach upset (often settles)
• Metallic taste
• Reduced appetite
• Mild bloating
• Long-term low vitamin B12

Inform the doctor of kidney or liver problems, severe infection, dehydration, or planned scans with contrast dye, as the medicine may need to be paused. Limit alcohol. Have B12 checked on long-term use.

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight and moisture. Keep in the strip and out of reach of children.
