Losartan is an angiotensin-II receptor blocker that relaxes blood vessels, while hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that helps your body shed extra salt and water. Together they bring pressure down through two complementary routes.

Swallow whole with water, as prescribed by your doctor. You can take it with or without food, ideally around the same time each day.

• Dizziness, especially when standing up quickly
• Tiredness or muscle cramps
• Increased urination in the first few days
• Low potassium or sodium on long use

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or have kidney, liver, or gout problems. Rise slowly from sitting and stay well hydrated. Avoid potassium supplements unless advised.
