AMLODAC 2.5MG TAB

Amlodac 2.5 mg is a low-strength tablet of amlodipine, a long-acting medicine that doctors prescribe to lower high blood pressure and to ease the chest pain of angina. Made by Zydus, this is one of the most familiar BP medicines in India. Schedule H — always taken on a doctor's prescription.

• High blood pressure (hypertension)
• Angina — the chest pain that comes when the heart isn't getting enough oxygen
• Some forms of coronary artery disease, as decided by your doctor

Amlodipine relaxes the muscle walls of your blood vessels, opening them up so blood can flow more freely. With wider vessels, the heart works less hard and blood pressure comes down.

Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not change the dose or stop on your own — blood pressure can rebound dangerously. Try to take it at the same time each day so it stays steady in your body.

• Mild swelling in the ankles or feet (common, especially in the first weeks)
• Fatigue or feeling drowsy
• Mild flushing or warmth in the face
• Headache when starting the medicine
• Less commonly: nausea, dizziness on standing up
• Seek medical attention if you get chest pain, severe dizziness, or fainting

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding — the safety data is limited. Inform the pharmacist about every other medicine you take, because amlodipine interacts with some antibiotics (clarithromycin), antifungals, and other heart medicines. People with liver disease usually need a smaller dose. Available only with a valid prescription.
