Tobastar 5ml

Tobastar from Mankind is an eye drop containing tobramycin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic. It is used to clear bacterial infections affecting the surface of the eye.

• Bacterial conjunctivitis
• Other surface eye infections from susceptible bacteria
• Short-term cover after some eye procedures

Tobramycin sticks to the bacterial protein factory (ribosome) and stops it working, so the bacteria cannot multiply and the immune system can clear them.

Instil into the affected eye as prescribed by your doctor. Wash hands first, tilt the head back gently and avoid the dropper tip touching any surface.

• Brief stinging or burning
• Mild blurred vision
• Eye itching or watering
• Rarely, lid swelling or rash

Let your doctor know about any aminoglycoside allergy or other ongoing eye problems. Avoid contact lenses while you have an active infection.

Keep below 25 degrees Celsius, tightly capped and out of direct sunlight. Discard one month after opening.
