Resteclin 500 from Abbott is a higher-strength tetracycline capsule, a broad-spectrum antibiotic. It is prescribed for moderate to severe bacterial infections affecting the lungs, urinary tract, skin, and certain other systems.

• Bacterial respiratory and chest infections
• Urinary tract infections
• Skin infections and severe acne
• Selected sexually transmitted infections

Tetracycline binds to the bacterial ribosome and stops bacteria from making the proteins they need to grow. With the bacteria unable to multiply, your body's immune system clears the infection more easily.

Swallow whole with a full glass of water as prescribed by your doctor. Take on an empty stomach when possible, and avoid taking it together with milk, dairy, antacids, or iron supplements.

Not for children under 8 years or during pregnancy and breastfeeding because of effects on teeth and bone development. Tell your doctor about kidney or liver disease, lupus, or any antibiotic allergy. Use sun protection while on it.

Store below 25 degrees Celsius in the original strip, away from light, heat, and moisture. Do not use expired capsules. Keep out of reach of children.
