Product information
About
Prax A75 from Torrent is a fixed-dose capsule combining prasugrel, a P2Y12 antiplatelet, with low-dose aspirin. It is used in people with coronary artery disease, especially after a heart attack or stenting, to reduce the risk of further blood clot events.
Uses
- Prevention of clot-related events after stent placement
- Acute coronary syndrome with planned PCI
- Reducing risk of recurrent heart attack or stroke
How it works
Prasugrel blocks the P2Y12 receptor on platelets, while aspirin blocks the COX-1 enzyme. Together they make platelets less sticky, so blood is less likely to form clots inside narrowed or stented arteries.
How to take
Swallow the capsule whole with water, as prescribed by your doctor. Try to take it at the same time each day, with or just after food to ease stomach upset.
Side effects
- Easy bruising or longer bleeding from cuts
- Nosebleeds or bleeding gums
- Indigestion or stomach discomfort
- Rash or mild allergic skin reactions
Precautions
Tell your doctor about any history of stroke, active ulcers, liver problems, or upcoming surgery, including dental procedures. Avoid combining with other blood thinners unless your doctor specifically advises it.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius in the original strip, protected from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
