About
Zucapride M 500 is a Micro Labs combination tablet for type 2 diabetes that pairs dapagliflozin, an SGLT2 inhibitor, with metformin, a biguanide. The two medicines act through very different routes to lower blood sugar.
Uses
- Type 2 diabetes not controlled on one drug
- Better fasting and post-meal sugar control
- Helpful where some weight loss is desirable
How it works
Dapagliflozin makes the kidneys flush extra glucose out in the urine instead of returning it to the blood, while metformin reduces the amount of sugar the liver produces and helps muscles use glucose better. Together they bring sugar down without pushing the pancreas to make more insulin.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, with food to ease metformin on the stomach. Drink enough fluids through the day since dapagliflozin increases urine output.
Side effects
- Increased urination and thirst
- Genital or urinary tract infections
- Nausea, loose stools, or metallic taste
- Possible vitamin B12 deficiency with long use
Precautions
Tell your doctor about kidney problems, dehydration risk, or repeated genital infections. Stop and seek help if you have signs of ketoacidosis such as deep breathing, nausea, and abdominal pain.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius in a dry place, away from sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
