Amitone 10 contains amitriptyline, a long-trusted medicine used for depression and for certain types of long-standing nerve pain. At lower doses it is often prescribed for chronic pain, migraine prevention or to help with sleep tied to these conditions.

Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant. It increases levels of certain brain chemicals such as serotonin and noradrenaline, which lift low mood and also change how the brain processes pain signals, making chronic pain feel less intense.

Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually at bedtime because it can cause drowsiness. Swallow whole with water. Improvement in mood or pain may take a few weeks.

Share your medical history, especially heart disease, glaucoma, an enlarged prostate, epilepsy or thyroid issues. Do not stop suddenly; your doctor will reduce the dose slowly. Avoid alcohol and be careful when driving.
