Product information
About
WARF-1 from Cipla is a Warfarin tablet at a low strength. Warfarin is a blood-thinning medicine that helps prevent harmful clots from forming inside blood vessels.
Uses
- Prevention of clots in deep vein thrombosis
- Prevention of clots after heart valve surgery
- Atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat)
- Prevention of stroke in selected patients
- Pulmonary embolism management
How it works
Warfarin belongs to a class called vitamin K antagonists. It lowers the body's making of clotting factors that depend on vitamin K, so blood takes longer to clot and dangerous clots are less likely.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually at the same time each day with water. Regular blood tests (INR) are needed to keep the dose safe. Do not change the dose on your own.
Side effects
- Easy bruising
- Bleeding gums or longer bleeding from cuts
- Nosebleeds
- Stomach upset
Precautions
Avoid sudden changes in diet, especially green leafy vegetables. Tell every doctor and dentist you are on Warfarin. Many medicines, herbs and alcohol can change its effect. Report any unusual bleeding at once.
Storage
Store below 25°C, in a dry place, away from light. Keep in the original strip and out of reach of children.
