Epilex from Abbott contains sodium valproate, a well-established antiepileptic medicine used to manage different types of seizures.

• Helps prevent generalised and focal seizures
• Supports treatment of certain epilepsy syndromes
• May be prescribed for mood-related conditions on advice

Sodium valproate increases the activity of a calming brain chemical, helping reduce abnormal electrical bursts that trigger seizures.

Take as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, ideally with food. Do not stop suddenly without medical guidance.

• Drowsiness, dizziness, or tremor
• Weight gain, hair changes
• Nausea or mild stomach upset

Not recommended in pregnancy due to risks to the baby. Tell your doctor about liver problems, bleeding disorders, or other medicines you take. Regular monitoring may be advised.

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light, and out of children's reach.
