About
Macsita M 50/500 from Macleods is a fixed-dose antidiabetic tablet combining Sitagliptin with Metformin. It is used for adults with type 2 diabetes whose sugar is not controlled by one medicine alone.

How it works
Sitagliptin, a DPP-4 inhibitor, boosts the gut hormones that release insulin when sugar is high. Metformin, a biguanide, reduces the sugar made by the liver and helps body cells use insulin better. Together they lower blood sugar through two different paths.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow with a glass of water along with meals to reduce stomach upset. Do not crush or chew the tablet.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems, past pancreatitis, or heavy alcohol use. Stop the medicine and inform the doctor before any scan involving dye or major surgery. Watch for symptoms of low blood sugar.
