Imatib 100 10 tab

Imatib 100 from Cipla contains Imatinib, a targeted anti-cancer medicine. It is prescribed by cancer specialists to treat certain types of leukaemia and gastrointestinal tumours.

• Chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML)
• Philadelphia-chromosome positive acute lymphoblastic leukaemia
• Gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GIST)
• Some other rare blood and tissue cancers as decided by the doctor

Imatinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor. It blocks an abnormal protein (BCR-ABL and a few others) that drives certain cancer cells to grow uncontrolled. By switching off this signal, it slows or stops the growth of these cells.

Take as prescribed by your doctor. The tablet is usually swallowed whole with a large glass of water and with a meal to reduce stomach upset. Do not stop or change the dose on your own, even if you feel well.

• Nausea, vomiting or loose motions
• Muscle cramps and bone pain
• Swelling, especially around the eyes and ankles
• Tiredness
• Drop in blood counts on tests

Regular blood tests and clinic visits are essential. Avoid in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tell your doctor about all other medicines, herbal products and grapefruit juice, which can interact. Report fever, unusual bruising or breathlessness quickly.

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from sunlight and moisture. Keep in the original strip and out of reach of children.
