Methotrexate interferes with the way cells use folate, slowing the growth of rapidly dividing cells. This helps calm overactive immune responses and reduce abnormal cell growth.

Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. This medicine is often taken once a week, not daily, so follow the schedule carefully and never increase the dose on your own.

• Nausea or vomiting
• Mouth ulcers

• Changes in blood counts or liver tests

Regular blood, liver, and kidney tests are usually needed. Avoid alcohol and tell your doctor about pregnancy, breastfeeding, infections, vaccinations, or any other medicines, especially NSAIDs and antibiotics. Strict contraception is advised during and after treatment.
