About
Triolmesar CH 40 from Macleods is a triple-combination blood pressure tablet with a higher strength of Olmesartan (an angiotensin-receptor blocker), Chlorthalidone (a thiazide-like diuretic) and Amlodipine (a calcium-channel blocker). It is used when stronger BP control is needed.
Uses
- Hypertension needing stronger combination therapy
- Long-term blood pressure maintenance
- Reducing strain on heart and kidneys from raised BP
How it works
Olmesartan relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II. Chlorthalidone helps the kidneys flush out extra salt and water. Amlodipine widens vessels by reducing calcium entry into vessel muscle. The three together bring BP down through different routes.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day in the morning with water. Try to take it at the same time each day and do not stop suddenly.
Side effects
- Dizziness, especially on standing
- Ankle swelling
- Increased urination at first
- Headache or tiredness
- Changes in sodium or potassium on tests
Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney, liver or heart problems, gout, diabetes or low electrolytes. Avoid in pregnancy. Get periodic blood tests for electrolytes and kidney function and have BP checked regularly.
Storage
Store below 25°C in the original strip, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
