Product information
About
Cytogard 20 from Abbott contains Trimetazidine, an anti-anginal medicine that supports the heart's energy use. It is prescribed as add-on therapy in people with stable angina (chest pain on exertion) when standard treatments alone are not enough.
Uses
- Stable angina (chest pain on exertion)
- Adjunct in long-term ischaemic heart care
How it works
Trimetazidine helps heart muscle cells switch to a more efficient source of energy when oxygen supply is limited. This reduces the strain on the heart during exertion and helps lower the frequency and intensity of angina episodes.
How to take
Take this tablet as prescribed by your doctor, with food and a glass of water. Swallow whole rather than crushing or chewing. Take it at the same times each day to keep steady levels in the body and do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Side effects
- Dizziness or headache
- Nausea or stomach discomfort
- Weakness or fatigue
- Movement-related symptoms in some people
Precautions
Not suitable in Parkinson's disease, tremor or restless legs syndrome. Tell your doctor about kidney problems, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Report any new movement difficulties, falls or unusual fatigue to your doctor.
Storage
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from moisture and sunlight. Keep the strip in its pack and out of reach of children.
