Neo Mercazole from Abbott contains Carbimazole, an anti-thyroid medicine. Doctors prescribe it for an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism) and to prepare patients for thyroid surgery or radioactive iodine treatment.

Carbimazole turns into its active form, methimazole, inside the body. It blocks an enzyme called thyroid peroxidase, which the thyroid gland needs to make thyroid hormones. With less hormone production, thyroid activity slowly returns to normal.

Take as prescribed by your doctor, swallowed whole with water. Do not stop on your own even if you feel better, as the thyroid needs steady control. Regular blood tests will be advised to track progress.
