Neo Mercazole 5 mg from Abbott is a lower-strength anti-thyroid tablet containing Carbimazole. It is commonly used for long-term maintenance therapy in people with an overactive thyroid gland.

Carbimazole is converted in the body to methimazole, which blocks the thyroid peroxidase enzyme. This reduces the production of thyroid hormones T3 and T4, bringing an overactive gland back into balance.
