How it works
Nitroglycerin is a vasodilator that relaxes and widens blood vessels. This lowers the heart's workload and improves blood flow to the heart muscle, reducing the chance of chest pain.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, swallow whole with water, do not crush or chew. It is usually taken with or after meals.
Side effects
- Headache, especially in the first days
- Dizziness or flushing
- Low blood pressure
- Fast heartbeat
Precautions
Do not combine with medicines for erectile dysfunction. Tell your doctor about low blood pressure, anaemia or recent head injury. Rise slowly to avoid dizziness.
