Product information
About
Taximax Injection from Alkem combines cefotaxime (a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic) with sulbactam (a beta-lactamase inhibitor) to tackle serious bacterial infections, including those caused by resistant strains. This is the 375 mg vial.
Uses
- Severe chest, urinary, or skin infections
- Intra-abdominal and gynaecological infections
- Bone and joint infections
How it works
Cefotaxime breaks down the bacterial cell wall, causing the bacteria to die. Sulbactam blocks the enzymes some bacteria use to resist beta-lactam antibiotics, restoring cefotaxime's activity.
How to take
Given as an injection by a trained healthcare professional, as prescribed by your doctor. Complete the full course even if you feel better.
Side effects
- Pain or redness at the injection site
- Nausea, diarrhoea, or rash
- Rare allergic reactions
- Changes in blood counts with long use
Precautions
Tell your doctor about any penicillin or cephalosporin allergy, kidney problems, or pregnancy. Seek urgent help for breathlessness, hives, or facial swelling.
Storage
Store the vial below 25°C, away from light. After reconstitution, use as directed by the hospital team. Keep out of reach of children.
