Product information
About
Deflabert 6 Syrup from Albert David contains Deflazacort, a glucocorticoid (corticosteroid), in a liquid form. The syrup is helpful for children and patients who find it hard to swallow tablets.
Uses
- Inflammatory and autoimmune conditions in children
- Nephrotic syndrome
- Duchenne muscular dystrophy
- Severe allergic and skin conditions
- Asthma flare control
How it works
Deflazacort is converted in the body to an active form that lowers inflammation and calms an overactive immune system. This reduces swelling, pain and other symptoms of the disease.
How to take
Give as prescribed by your doctor. Shake the bottle well and measure with the cup or syringe that comes inside, not a household spoon. It is often given with food or milk. Never stop suddenly; the doctor will lower the dose slowly when it is safe.
Side effects
- Increased appetite, weight gain
- Mood or sleep changes
- Higher blood sugar or blood pressure
- Stomach upset
- Easy bruising, thinning skin
- Higher chance of infections with long use
Precautions
Tell your doctor about diabetes, high blood pressure, peptic ulcer, tuberculosis or any active infection. Avoid contact with people who have chickenpox or measles if your child has not had them or been vaccinated. Inform if pregnant or breastfeeding. Carry a steroid card if used long term.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep the bottle tightly closed and use within the time advised by the pharmacist after opening. Keep out of reach of children.
