Product information
About
Zen Retard 200 from Intas is a sustained-release carbamazepine tablet used mainly to control seizures and certain types of nerve pain. The retard form releases the medicine slowly through the day for steadier effect.
Uses
- Helps control epileptic seizures
- Eases sharp facial nerve pain (trigeminal neuralgia)
- Used in some mood disorders as add-on therapy
How it works
Carbamazepine is an anticonvulsant that calms overactive electrical signals in the brain by stabilising sodium channels in nerve cells, reducing seizure activity and the firing of pain-signalling nerves.
How to take
Swallow the tablet whole with water, ideally with food, as prescribed by your doctor. Do not crush or chew the sustained-release tablet.
Side effects
- Drowsiness and dizziness
- Nausea or vomiting
- Blurred or double vision
- Skin rash
- Unsteady walking
Precautions
Tell your doctor about liver, kidney, heart, or bone marrow problems, and any skin reactions to medicines. Avoid alcohol. Use carefully in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Do not stop suddenly as this can trigger seizures.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees C in a dry place, away from light. Keep in the original pack and out of reach of children.
