How it works
Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocker. By blocking calcium from entering heart and artery cells, it relaxes the vessels and slightly slows the heart, reducing both blood pressure and the heart's workload. The SR coating spreads the release over many hours.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow whole with water; do not split or crush the tablet.

Precautions
Tell your doctor about any heart-block, very low pulse, low blood pressure, severe liver disease or pregnancy. Avoid grapefruit juice. Periodic pulse and BP checks are useful.
