Edocar 6.25

Edocar 6.25 from Ajanta Pharma is a low-dose tablet of chlorthalidone, a thiazide-like diuretic widely used in long-term blood pressure control. The small 6.25 mg strength is often chosen as an add-on for gentler dosing.

• Hypertension (high blood pressure), alone or in combination
• Mild fluid retention (oedema) as advised
• Long-term cardiovascular risk reduction as part of a regimen

Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic that acts on the distal tubule of the kidney. It reduces sodium and water reabsorption, leading to increased urine output, lower blood volume and relaxed blood vessels — all of which help bring blood pressure down.

Take by mouth with water, usually in the morning with or after food, as prescribed by your doctor. Try to take it at the same time each day and do not stop without medical advice.

• Increased urination, especially after starting
• Dizziness on standing or mild dehydration
• Low potassium, sodium or magnesium with long use

Tell your doctor about kidney or liver disease, gout, diabetes, electrolyte imbalances, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Periodic blood tests for electrolytes, kidney function and sugar may be needed. Avoid sudden posture changes if you feel light-headed.

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep in the original strip and out of reach of children.
