Product information
About
Telma XX25 from Glenmark is a triple-combination tablet of Telmisartan, Chlorthalidone and Metoprolol with a lower beta-blocker strength. It is prescribed when BP and heart rate both need gentle but combined control.
Uses
- High blood pressure needing three medicines
- BP with mildly raised heart rate, as advised by the doctor
How it works
Telmisartan is an angiotensin-receptor blocker that relaxes blood vessels. Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic that helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water. Metoprolol is a beta-blocker that slows the heart and softens each beat, so the three combine to lower blood pressure through different routes.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually with or just after food. Swallow whole with water. Do not stop on your own as the beta-blocker needs gradual tapering.
Side effects
- Slow heart rate
- Tiredness or cold extremities
- Dizziness on standing
- Increased urination at the start
- Changes in potassium, sodium or uric acid
Precautions
Tell your doctor about asthma, heart block, severe heart failure, gout, diabetes, liver or kidney disease, or pregnancy. Avoid alcohol and rise slowly from sitting or lying down.
Storage
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep in the original strip and out of reach of children.
