About
Telma MCT from Glenmark is a triple-combination tablet with Telmisartan, Metoprolol and Chlorthalidone. It is prescribed for adults who need three different actions to control blood pressure and heart workload.
Uses
- High blood pressure not controlled by two medicines
- BP linked to raised heart rate, as advised by the doctor
How it works
Telmisartan is an angiotensin-receptor blocker that relaxes blood vessels. Metoprolol is a beta-blocker that slows the heart and softens each beat. Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic that helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water, so the three work together to lower BP and heart strain.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually with or just after food. Swallow whole with water. Do not stop suddenly, since the beta-blocker part needs gradual tapering.
Side effects
- Slow heart rate
- Tiredness, cold hands and feet
- Dizziness on standing
- Increased urination
- Changes in potassium or sodium
Precautions
Tell your doctor about asthma, slow pulse, heart block, severe heart failure, gout, diabetes, or pregnancy. Avoid alcohol and rise slowly from sitting or lying down.
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep in the original strip and out of reach of children.
