Product information
About
Silomer 400 from Indigen contains sevelamer, a phosphate binder used in people on dialysis. It helps keep blood phosphate levels in a healthier range without adding extra calcium.
Uses
- High blood phosphate in chronic kidney disease
- Phosphate control in dialysis patients
- Reducing dietary phosphate absorption
How it works
Sevelamer binds to phosphate from food inside the gut and carries it out in the stool, so less phosphate enters the blood.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually with meals so it can bind food phosphate. Swallow the tablets whole; do not crush.
Side effects
- Nausea or vomiting
- Constipation or diarrhoea
- Bloating and gas
- Indigestion
Precautions
Tell your doctor about swallowing problems, bowel surgery or other gut conditions. Other medicines may need to be taken at different times to avoid interactions.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius in a dry place. Keep the strip in its carton, away from moisture and children.
