Dilvas 2.5

Dilvas 2.5 from Cipla contains enalapril, a well-established blood-pressure medicine that belongs to the ACE inhibitor family. The lower 2.5 mg strength is often chosen when treatment is just starting or when a gentler dose is needed.

• Support in certain heart failure conditions, alongside other medicines
• Protection of kidney function in some patients with diabetes, when advised

Enalapril blocks an enzyme that normally produces angiotensin II, a chemical that tightens blood vessels. With less angiotensin II circulating, the vessels stay relaxed and wider, so blood flows more easily and pressure drops. The heart also has less workload, which can ease symptoms in heart failure.

Take as prescribed by your doctor, with or without food, at the same time daily. Continue even if you feel fine, since blood pressure usually shows no obvious symptoms.

• Dry, persistent cough
• Dizziness, especially after the first dose
• Headache or feeling unusually tired
• Mildly raised potassium or changes in kidney tests

Avoid if pregnant or planning pregnancy, as ACE inhibitors can harm the baby. Inform your doctor about kidney problems, narrowing of kidney arteries, or any past swelling of the lips, face or throat. Limit potassium-rich salt substitutes unless your doctor approves.

Store below 25 degrees Celsius in the original strip, away from heat and moisture. Keep out of children's reach.
