Dilvas 5

Dilvas 5 from Cipla is the 5 mg strength of enalapril, an ACE inhibitor used widely for blood-pressure and heart conditions. It is often the next step up from the starting dose once your doctor sees how you respond.

• Helping protect the kidneys in selected patients, when advised

Enalapril blocks the angiotensin-converting enzyme, lowering the production of a hormone that constricts blood vessels. The vessels stay relaxed, blood pressure eases down, and the heart pumps with less strain. Over time this helps reduce the burden on the heart and kidneys.

Take as prescribed by your doctor, at the same time daily, with or without food. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

• Dry cough that does not go away
• Lightheadedness, especially on standing
• Headache or fatigue
• Occasional changes in kidney function or potassium levels

Not to be used in pregnancy. Tell your doctor about kidney disease, dehydration, or any history of facial or throat swelling on previous medicines. Have blood pressure, kidney function and potassium reviewed as suggested.
