Bempesta

Bempesta from Torrent contains bempedoic acid, an oral lipid-lowering medicine. It is used to bring down high LDL (bad) cholesterol, often in people who do not tolerate statins or need extra cholesterol reduction.

Bempedoic acid blocks an enzyme called ATP-citrate lyase in the liver, an early step in cholesterol production. With less cholesterol being made, the liver pulls more LDL out of the blood, lowering its level.

Take as prescribed by your doctor, swallowed whole with water, with or without food. Keep up the diet and exercise advice your doctor has given alongside the tablet.

• Muscle spasms
• Joint pain or back pain
• Increased uric acid, possible gout flare

• Mild rise in liver enzymes

Tell your doctor about a history of gout, kidney or liver problems, or tendon issues. Avoid in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Inform your doctor about other cholesterol or thyroid medicines you take.

Store below 30 degrees Celsius in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep tablets in the original strip and out of reach of children.
