Orofer XT 15 tab

Orofer XT from Emcure is an iron and folic acid tablet used to treat and prevent certain types of anaemia, especially iron-deficiency anaemia. It contains ferrous ascorbate, a well-absorbed form of iron, along with folic acid, a B-vitamin important for making healthy red blood cells.

• Iron-deficiency anaemia
• Anaemia during pregnancy and breastfeeding
• Low iron and folate stores due to poor diet or blood loss
• Support during recovery from heavy periods or surgery

Ferrous ascorbate supplies iron, which the body uses to make haemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. The ascorbate (vitamin C) component helps the gut absorb iron more easily. Folic acid supports the production and maturation of red blood cells, working together to improve overall blood health.

Take as prescribed by your doctor. Tablets are usually swallowed whole with water, either with or after food if it upsets your stomach. Try to avoid taking it at the same time as tea, coffee or milk, as these can reduce iron absorption.

• Dark or black-coloured stools, which is normal
• Constipation or, sometimes, loose stools
• Mild nausea, stomach pain or indigestion
• Metallic taste in the mouth
• Rarely, allergic reactions like rash or itching

Let your doctor know if you have any chronic illness, repeated blood transfusions, stomach ulcers, or are allergic to iron supplements. Keep well away from children, as iron overdose can be dangerous. Tell your doctor about all other medicines and supplements you take.

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep tablets in the original strip and out of reach of children.
