Efetill

Efetill from Intas contains acetylcysteine 600 mg, a mucolytic agent that also serves as a glutathione precursor. It is commonly used to thin sticky mucus and to support the body's natural antioxidant defences.

• Conditions with thick or sticky mucus, such as bronchitis and COPD
• Adjunct in chronic respiratory disorders as advised
• Other clinical uses (including supportive care) as prescribed

Acetylcysteine breaks the disulphide bonds in mucus glycoproteins, making sputum thinner and easier to cough out. It also helps replenish glutathione, an important intracellular antioxidant that supports cell protection in the lungs and liver.

Take by mouth as prescribed by your doctor — the tablet or effervescent form is usually dissolved in water and swallowed. Drink plenty of fluids during the day to help mucus clearance.

• Nausea, vomiting or stomach discomfort
• Mild diarrhoea or heartburn
• Occasional rash or, rarely, allergic reaction

Tell your doctor about asthma, peptic ulcers, severe liver or kidney disease, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Use with caution if you have a history of bronchospasm. Stop and seek care if there is wheezing, swelling of the face or difficulty breathing.

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of reach of children.
