About
Zen Retard 400 from Intas is a higher-strength sustained-release carbamazepine tablet used to control seizures and certain nerve pain conditions, releasing the medicine gradually for a steadier effect.
Uses
- Helps control epileptic seizures
- Eases sharp facial nerve pain (trigeminal neuralgia)
- May be used as add-on therapy in some mood disorders
How it works
Carbamazepine is an anticonvulsant that works on sodium channels in nerve cells, calming the bursts of electrical activity that cause seizures and certain nerve pain.

Swallow the tablet whole with water, ideally with food, as prescribed by your doctor. Do not crush, split, or chew the sustained-release tablet.
Side effects
- Drowsiness and dizziness

Precautions
Share any liver, kidney, heart, or bone marrow issues, and any past skin reactions to medicines. Avoid alcohol. Use with care in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Do not stop abruptly as this may trigger seizures.
