Deriphyllin Retard 300

Deriphyllin Retard 300 from Zydus is the higher-strength sustained-release version of the etofylline plus theophylline tablet. It is intended for people who need a stronger maintenance dose to keep airways open through the day and night.

• Long-term control of bronchial asthma
• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
• Recurrent wheezing or breathlessness as advised by your doctor

Both actives are methylxanthines. They relax the smooth muscle lining the bronchial tubes and ease the squeeze that causes wheezing, helping breathing feel less laboured.

Swallow whole with a glass of water, as prescribed by your doctor. Do not break, crush or chew, since the retard coating controls how the medicine is released.

• Nausea or stomach discomfort
• Rapid or irregular heartbeat
• Headache or jitteriness
• Difficulty sleeping
• Hand tremor

Share any history of heart rhythm issues, ulcers, seizures, liver or kidney trouble, or thyroid disease. Reduce caffeine while on this medicine. Inform your doctor if pregnant, breastfeeding or planning to quit smoking, as dose may need review.
