Prothiaden 75

Prothiaden 75 from Abbott is a higher-strength prescription antidepressant tablet containing Dosulepin (Dothiepin). It is from the tricyclic antidepressant group and is used when patients need a stronger dose for steady mood control.

• Moderate to severe depression
• Long-standing low mood with sleep problems
• Depression with anxiety
• Some chronic pain conditions, on doctor's advice

Dosulepin works on brain chemicals serotonin and noradrenaline, helping to restore balance in mood, sleep, appetite and concentration. Steady daily use over a few weeks is needed for full effect.

Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually with water. The doctor may suggest a single bedtime dose because it can cause drowsiness. Do not change the dose on your own.

Do not drink alcohol. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel sleepy. Mention any heart disease, glaucoma, prostate or thyroid issues, epilepsy or pregnancy. Never stop suddenly; the doctor will taper the dose.

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep in the original strip and out of reach of children.
