Mirtaz from Sun Pharma contains Mirtazapine, an antidepressant that also helps with sleep and appetite. Doctors prescribe it for depression, especially when poor sleep or low appetite is part of the picture.

• Major depression
• Depression with poor sleep
• Depression with low appetite
• Anxiety along with depression (as advised)

Mirtazapine belongs to the tetracyclic antidepressant family. It rebalances serotonin and noradrenaline in the brain, lifting mood, calming anxiety and improving sleep and appetite over a few weeks.

Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually swallowed at bedtime with water. Do not stop suddenly; the doctor will taper the dose when it is time.

• Drowsiness, especially in the first weeks

• Dizziness on standing up
• Vivid dreams

Tell the doctor about liver, kidney or heart problems, epilepsy, glaucoma or bipolar illness. Avoid alcohol. Do not drive until you know how it affects you. Mood may take 2 to 4 weeks to improve.
