Product information
About
Tofatas from Intas contains tofacitinib, a targeted oral medicine in the JAK inhibitor family. It is used for certain autoimmune conditions where the body's own immune system attacks healthy tissue.
Uses
- Moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis
- Psoriatic arthritis
- Ulcerative colitis
- Other JAK-responsive autoimmune conditions as decided by your doctor
How it works
Tofacitinib blocks Janus kinase (JAK) enzymes inside immune cells. By dampening the inflammatory signals these enzymes carry, joint pain, swelling and gut inflammation are reduced.
How to take
Take by mouth with or without food as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow whole with water. Do not stop or change the dose without medical advice as flares can return.
Side effects
- Increased risk of infections like sore throat, sinus or chest infections
- Headache and tiredness
- Diarrhoea or nausea
- Changes in blood counts, liver enzymes or cholesterol
Precautions
Tell your doctor about any history of tuberculosis, hepatitis, heart disease, blood clots, cancer or recent vaccinations. Regular blood tests are needed. Avoid live vaccines while on treatment.
Storage
Keep in the original strip below 25 degrees Celsius, away from moisture and direct light. Store out of children's reach.
