Uses

How it works
Azathioprine interferes with the production of DNA in fast-dividing immune cells, dampening the immune response that drives rejection or autoimmune attack.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually with or after food to reduce stomach upset. Swallow whole with water and do not stop suddenly.
Side effects
- Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite
- Lowered blood counts and higher infection risk
- Hair thinning or liver enzyme changes
Precautions
Regular blood tests are essential. Tell your doctor about liver, kidney or blood disorders, recent infections, vaccinations, or if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.
