Product information
About
Zyrik 100 is a Cipla tablet containing allopurinol, a xanthine oxidase inhibitor used to lower uric acid in the blood. It is taken regularly to prevent gout attacks rather than to treat one in progress.
Uses
- Long-term gout control
- Prevention of uric acid kidney stones
- High uric acid from certain cancer treatments
- Selected inherited enzyme disorders
How it works
Allopurinol blocks xanthine oxidase, the enzyme that turns purines into uric acid. With less uric acid being formed, blood levels fall, existing crystal deposits slowly dissolve, and gout flares become less frequent.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, after a meal and with a full glass of water. Drink fluids through the day to help the kidneys, and keep taking it daily even when symptoms settle.
Side effects
- Skin rash, occasionally severe
- Nausea or stomach upset
- Drowsiness or headache
- Rare serious hypersensitivity reactions
Precautions
Tell your doctor about kidney issues, past serious drug rashes, or use of azathioprine or mercaptopurine. Seek urgent care for any spreading rash, fever, or peeling skin.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius in a dry place, away from sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
