About
Tofatas XR from Intas is an extended-release form of tofacitinib, a JAK inhibitor used in autoimmune joint disease. The XR design delivers the medicine slowly so the effect lasts through the day with a single dose.
Uses
- Moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis
- Psoriatic arthritis
- Other JAK-responsive conditions as advised by your doctor
How it works
Tofacitinib blocks Janus kinase enzymes that pass inflammatory signals inside immune cells. With these signals dampened, joint swelling, pain and stiffness ease over time.
How to take
Swallow the whole tablet with water as prescribed by your doctor. Do not break, crush or chew, as that destroys the extended-release coating. Try to take it at around the same time each day.
Side effects
- Higher chance of upper-airway, urinary or skin infections
- Headache and tiredness
- Loose stools or nausea
- Changes in blood counts, liver enzymes or cholesterol
Precautions
Share any history of tuberculosis, hepatitis, blood clots, heart disease or cancer with your doctor. Regular blood tests and screening are needed. Avoid live vaccines during treatment.
