About
ATR-AP 20/75 from Knoll is a two-in-one tablet combining atorvastatin 20 mg and aspirin 75 mg. It is prescribed for people at risk of heart attack or stroke to manage cholesterol and reduce blood clotting at the same time.
Uses
- Prevention of heart attack and stroke in high-risk patients
- Long-term care after a previous heart attack, angina or stroke
- Management of high cholesterol along with clot prevention
How it works
Atorvastatin reduces the cholesterol the liver makes, lowering LDL in the blood and slowing artery plaque build-up. Low-dose aspirin makes platelets less sticky so blood is less likely to form unwanted clots in narrowed arteries.
How to take
Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day after a meal with a glass of water. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Side effects
- Stomach upset, heartburn or nausea
- Muscle pain or weakness
- Easy bruising or longer bleeding from cuts
- Headache
- Dark or tar-like stools (tell your doctor immediately)
Precautions
Avoid in pregnancy, breastfeeding, active stomach ulcers, bleeding disorders or active liver disease. Tell your doctor before any surgery or dental work, and mention all other medicines (especially blood thinners). Limit alcohol. Watch for unusual bleeding.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
