Saaz

Saaz Tablet from Ipca contains sulfasalazine, a disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD) that also acts in the bowel. It is used in long-term inflammatory conditions of the joints and gut.

• Rheumatoid arthritis
• Ulcerative colitis (mild to moderate)
• Some forms of juvenile arthritis

Sulfasalazine is broken down in the gut into two parts: one calms inflammation in the bowel lining, and the whole molecule helps quieten the overactive immune response that drives joint swelling and pain in arthritis.

Swallow whole with a full glass of water, preferably after food, as prescribed by your doctor. Drink plenty of fluids through the day to keep the kidneys flushed.

• Nausea, loss of appetite, or stomach upset
• Headache or dizziness
• Orange-yellow tint to urine or skin
• Skin rash or sensitivity to sunlight

Tell your doctor if you are allergic to sulfa drugs or aspirin, or if you have liver, kidney, or blood disorders. Regular blood tests are usually needed to watch for changes in blood counts and liver function. Use sun protection while on this medicine.

Store below 25 degrees Celsius in a cool, dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep the strip in its pack and out of reach of children.
