Product information
About
Zyrik 300 is a Cipla higher-strength tablet of allopurinol, a xanthine oxidase inhibitor used to bring down uric acid levels. The 300 mg strength is typically reached gradually after starting on a lower dose.
Uses
- Long-term control of gout, especially with frequent flares
- Prevention of uric acid kidney stones
- High uric acid linked to certain cancer therapies
- Selected enzyme disorders raising uric acid
How it works
Allopurinol blocks the enzyme xanthine oxidase, reducing the conversion of purines into uric acid. Lower uric acid means crystals stop forming, existing deposits gradually dissolve, and gout attacks become less likely.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, after food and with plenty of water. Stay on it daily, since stopping can bring on a flare-up.
Side effects
- Skin rash, sometimes severe
- Nausea or stomach upset
- Headache or drowsiness
- Rare serious hypersensitivity reactions
Precautions
Share any kidney problems, past drug rashes, or use of azathioprine or mercaptopurine with your doctor. Stop the tablet and seek urgent care if a rash spreads or is joined by fever or peeling skin.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius in a dry place, away from sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
