About
Skinzorb 5 Cream from UHL is a combination topical preparation containing clobetasol (a potent corticosteroid), gentamicin (an aminoglycoside antibiotic), tolnaftate and clotrimazole (antifungals), and iodochlorhydroxyquinoline (an antibacterial-antifungal agent). It is meant for skin conditions where infection and inflammation are mixed.
Uses
- Itchy, inflamed skin rashes with suspected infection
- Fungal skin infections complicated by bacterial growth
- Inflamed eczema or dermatitis with secondary infection
How it works
Clobetasol calms redness, swelling, and itching by quietening the skin's immune response. Gentamicin and iodochlorhydroxyquinoline work against bacteria, while tolnaftate and clotrimazole disrupt fungal cell walls to stop the infection from spreading.
How to take
Apply a thin layer to the affected area as prescribed by your doctor. Wash and dry your hands and the skin before use, and avoid covering the area with tight dressings unless told to.
Side effects
- Burning, stinging, or itching at the site
- Skin thinning or stretch marks with long use
- Local irritation or allergic reaction
- Change in skin colour at the area
Precautions
Do not use on the face, underarms, or groin for long periods, and avoid use in children unless your doctor advises. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any long-term skin condition. Prolonged or wide-area use of strong steroids can be absorbed into the body.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep the tube tightly closed and out of reach of children.
