About
Tetanus Toxoid (TT) ampoule is an injectable vaccine that protects against tetanus, a serious bacterial infection that affects the nerves. Used for routine and emergency tetanus protection.
Uses
- Tetanus prevention after a cut or wound
- Routine tetanus booster
- Pregnancy tetanus immunisation
- Pre-surgery tetanus cover (when needed)
How it works
The inactivated tetanus toxin trains the immune system to make antibodies. If the tetanus bacteria ever enter the body, these antibodies neutralise their toxin quickly.
How to take
For intramuscular injection by a doctor or nurse only. Dose and schedule are given as prescribed by your doctor based on age and wound history.
Side effects
- Pain, redness or swelling at injection site
- Mild fever for a day or two
- Tiredness or body ache
- Rare allergic reaction
Precautions
Tell your doctor about any past vaccine reaction, fever or weak immunity. Stay at the clinic for 15 minutes after the shot in case of allergy. Single-use ampoule only.
Storage
Store at 2-8 degrees C in a refrigerator. Do not freeze. Protect from light. Keep out of children's reach.
