About
Fucibet from Sun Pharma is a topical cream combining fusidic acid, an antibiotic, with betamethasone, a corticosteroid. It is used for short courses on inflamed skin conditions like eczema when there is also a bacterial skin infection.
Uses
- Infected eczema or dermatitis
- Inflamed skin with a bacterial infection
- Short-term control of itchy, infected patches
How it works
Betamethasone calms the redness, swelling and itch on the skin, while fusidic acid acts on susceptible bacteria, mainly Staphylococcus species. The pair targets both inflammation and infection at once.
How to take
Apply a thin layer to the affected area only, as prescribed by your doctor. Wash your hands before and after, and avoid covering the area with tight bandages unless told to.
Side effects
- Burning or stinging on application
- Skin thinning with long use
- Stretch marks
- Pigment changes
- Local irritation
Precautions
Avoid using on the face, groin or broken skin unless directed. Do not use long-term, and keep the cream away from the eyes; tell your doctor if the skin does not improve in a few days.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius with the tube tightly closed, away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
