Product information
About
Contraset 72 from UHL contains Levonorgestrel, an emergency contraceptive pill meant for use after unprotected intercourse or suspected contraceptive failure. It is not a routine birth-control method.
Uses
- Emergency contraception within 72 hours of unprotected sex
- Backup if a regular contraceptive may have failed
How it works
Levonorgestrel is a progestin hormone that primarily delays or prevents ovulation. It may also make it harder for sperm to fertilize an egg, lowering the chance of pregnancy if taken soon enough.
How to take
Take one tablet as soon as possible after unprotected sex, as prescribed by your doctor. The earlier it is taken, the better it works. If vomiting happens within a couple of hours, seek medical advice.
Side effects
- Nausea or vomiting
- Headache or tiredness
- Breast tenderness
- Changes in your next period timing or flow
Precautions
This is for emergency use only and does not protect against sexually transmitted infections. It is not as effective as regular contraception. Speak to your doctor if your next period is delayed by more than a week.
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from light and out of children's reach.
