Depo Provera Injection 150 mg

Depo Provera Injection from Pfizer contains Medroxyprogesterone Acetate, a long-acting progestin hormone. It is used mainly as a contraceptive injection given once every three months by a healthcare professional.

• Long-acting contraception
• Endometriosis pain
• Heavy or painful periods (in selected cases)
• Certain hormone-sensitive conditions as advised

Medroxyprogesterone is a synthetic form of the hormone progesterone. It stops the release of egg from the ovary, thins the lining of the uterus and thickens cervical mucus, making pregnancy very unlikely.

Give as prescribed by your doctor. It is an intramuscular injection administered by a nurse or doctor, usually in the upper arm or buttock, repeated every three months.

• Irregular bleeding or spotting
• Stopping of periods over time
• Weight gain
• Headache or mood changes
• Pain at injection site

Tell the doctor about any history of breast cancer, liver disease, unexplained vaginal bleeding, blood clots, osteoporosis or high blood pressure. Long-term use may reduce bone density, so calcium and vitamin D may be advised. Return to fertility can take several months after stopping.

Store between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius in the original carton, away from light. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
