Methergin from Centaur contains methylergometrine, an ergot-derived medicine used in obstetric care to help the uterus contract after childbirth.

Methylergometrine acts directly on the muscle of the uterus, encouraging firm, steady contractions that help close blood vessels and reduce bleeding.

Take as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Follow the schedule exactly, even if you feel fine.

• Nausea or vomiting
• Headache or dizziness
• Raised blood pressure or cramping

Tell your doctor about high blood pressure, heart disease, or liver problems before starting. Avoid if you are still pregnant. Skip breastfeeding for a few hours after a dose if advised.
